EFT – What Is
It?
How
many times have you tried to stop smoking? Attempted to cut
down on overeating? Or avoided something because of fear,
anxiety, or worries?
The negative emotions created in our bodies when we attempt
to make a change or address an underlying issue can
literally be life-limiting. You might think that if you
could just have plastic surgery / buy that outfit / get
your teeth fixed / lose that weight, you would feel better
about yourself. Unfortunately, if you don’t deal with your
self-esteem and your limiting beliefs, you end up trying to
“fix” your flaws, usually with limited success, and the
cycle begins once again.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was developed in the
1990s by Gary Craig, who adapted Roger Callahan’s Thought
Field Therapy (TFT) to create a unique way of communicating
with our body’s energy system. It is an effective and
simple process that uses tapping on acupressure points on
the head, upper body and hands (see diagram enlarged)
to balance the energy in
the body. It works on the premise that
"The cause of all negative
emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."
